Hugs & Holly is a collection of simple holiday projects to decorate your home or give as gifts. Some of the projects include a tablerunner, pillows, bags, tree skirts for small Christmas trees, goody bags, dish cozies designed for 8" square pans, and more. The 20 page book includes full-color diagrams and photos, as well as two pattern pullouts. I have provided not only the applique patterns, but full-size applique placement diagrams for some of the more intricate appliques. This allows you to lay an applique pressing sheet over the diagram to easily place your pieces, just as I have, for perfect appliques every time! See our Hugs & Holly fabric line under "Fabrics". Look below for links to the button packs for this book.
Here are the cute, little gingerbread pillows. Below you can see the back of the pillow which is fastened using two buttons and tabs.
There are three different tree skirts for small Christmas trees. This one is truly easy and uses rickrack for a little embellishment.
There is one section in the book called "One Block, Sew Many Options" where you select the applique you want to use and then the project you want to make, and then go for it! They can be mixed and matched! The gingerbread pillows above and the bags and casserole dish cozies below are all started using a simple 12" block.
The dish cozies are seen below. The simple 12" block is turned into a little "bag" to put an 8x8 dish into and ties at the top with a little bow.
These are designed to also accomodate an 8" square foil pan WITH lid. This makes for an inexpensive gift packed with tons of personality and handmade charm.
These little buckets below are one of my favorite projects from the book. They're easy to make, and using Soft and Stable
in place of batting gives it enough rigidity to hold its form while still keeping a soft touch. I also provide recipe cards in the book that you can copy and use to make home-baked goodies for the buckets, dish cozies, etc. I'm also providing them on my website for free! That's right! Here's a link to our recipe cards and other free goodies. FREE GOODIES FROM THE WOODEN BEAR!
Be sure to check out our free pattern for the mason jar buckets that I designed for Red Rooster. They have very graciously allowed me to put it on my website so everyone can enjoy!
Below is the gingerbread tablerunner. This uses the same gingerbread applique used on the pillows and dish cozies. So many accessories to coordinate!
Don't just use appliques on one project. The Santa project in the book is for the tree skirt (shown below on bottom), but use it on a tea towel, a simple sewn bag, or anywhere you like! Appliques are extremely versatile.
