This is just a page of my ramblings, ideas, and general what's up.
I thought I would give you a glimpse into my quilt room. I like it comfortable, cozy and fully-functional. If you look closely, you will see a new design in the works on my homemade design board!
On both sides of my work desk, I have bookcases. The left bookcase contains baskets on shelves to house each of my projects in the works. The right bookcase holds all of my newest fabrics in plain view to hopefully provide some inspiration. The rest of my fabrics are in the plastic storage drawers in the closet- out of sight (I can't stand clutter!) They're organized by color or theme, such as fall or Christmas. But, they are easily pulled out and taken to my design table so I can rehearse color combinations. When they start getting too full from all of my purchases :o) I pull out fabrics I don't feel I will use on future designs and either make a scrap quilt or donate to my (husband's) grandmother. She makes items for her church to donate, including bags for under-privileged school children overseas. I love that they're being put to good use!
Much of my days the past 3 months have been spent learning Photoshop (love it!) so I could design my own brochures, business cards and graphics! I have loved doing it and have finally learned enough to make my own website graphics, animations, etc. You may have noticed lately that things keep changing. With my first big International Quilt Market coming up, I wanted to do it all right and have everything ready. It has been A LOT of work, but the good part is, I enjoy every aspect of this business. I even enjoy doing the paperwork (although, sometimes there's too much of it and not enough designing!) Needless to say, with all of that work being done, I haven't had much of a chance to do any new designs, although I have TONS of sketches that I can't wait to try out! So, after market is over, and the after-market orders (hopefully)are sent off and business is taken care of, I am anxiously awaiting the time when I can sit back down to the sewing table. So hang in there, my faithful customers, I promise new stuff soon!
